Camera Data Delivery Contents

This page describes the file formats and delivery structure used in the RCD105 camera data deliveries.

Delivery Structure

A standard delivery directory contains the following sub directories:

  • doc - Contains a copy of the most recent data quality report and camera calibration certificate.
  • eventfile - Contains a .csv file of data pertaining to each delivered photograph
  • photographs - Contains TIFF photograph images
  • thumbnails - Contains low resolution JPEG photograph images

and a Google Earth KML file.

Event files

The event file is a comma separated (csv) ASCII text file. This can be viewed in any simple text viewer or in most spreadsheet software (such as MS Excel or OpenOffice). The file contents are described more fully [ here]. The data contained in the file are post-processed navigation and attitude information, and should match up with the information that has been 'tagged' on to the TIFF images. Note that currently we do not have a method for calculating the camera boresight and so this is not included in the attitude values.

Thumbnail JPEG Images

The thumbnails are supplied as JPEG images. This is a type of compressed image format that can be opened by most image viewers. The supplied thumbnails include one for each of the full size TIFF photographs. These can be used to quickly scan through the data to search for required images.

Read-Me and Data quality report

The documents included with the delivery are in PDF. This is an open, platform independent standard for distribution of documentation, which allows graphical, text and tabular data to be included in the same file. Free viewers are available for displaying these documents. Please note that these documents will contain important information relating to your data set and should not be ignored.
