The global trend of glacial retreat means these processes are becoming much more widespread. Better understanding of the processes that bring about post-glacial slope adjustment leads to better understanding of (1) Potential hazards in downstream habitation (2) The global sediment budget (3) The formation of relict glacial landscapes.
