Processing the LiDAR calibration.

Started with the navigation data but had some problems getting an adequate solution. Emailed Leica support to see if they can help.

Ops are going to attempt to fly another calibration over Little Riss on Saturday (12/05/2012) so if that is sucessful then won't proceed any further with this data.

Leica got back about the nav data and have been able to get an improved solution - contuinuing with the LiDAR calibration.

Proceeding with HS calibration.

Found SCTs for lines to be used in boresight:

E H
1 -0.03 -0.03
2 1.86 -0.06
3 0.01 -0.06
5 0.00 -0.03
6 0.00 -0.06
7 -0.02 1.82

Lines E2 and H2 have no sync messages.

Processed the LiDAR calibration

Couple of points to note:

  • the roll error is still evident in this data - emailed Leica support but not heard back from them yet
  • due to lack of ground control points at nadir the range correction needs to be verified against another dataset (a cal flight over little riss)
  • data that is processed using this calibration should be checked carefully for any boresight errors

Processed the day 082 data and found a slight height offset (~15cm) from the GCPs - redid the range correction using the little riss data

Camera delivery had been finalised. Had a quick look at all OK so marking as finished on the status page.
