Data arrived from NERC-ARF via hard drive 2017-06-30

Scientific objective: Assess changes in "Alto Tajo" Natural Park
Priority: Urgent

PI: David Coomes

Sensors:

  • Fenix (flown, requested)

Unpacking

Project has been unpacked. There was no basestation data. Lidar data was placed in 2 different directories and have been joined in one; however, LiDAR failed and data is not usable for this flight season. There are 13 fenix flightlines and 13 owl lines.

Got an error in the scripts when running the checks. Will come back to this once solved.

Unpacking

Have run unpacked checks:
-Timestamp not constant/missing timestamps at the end of fenix nav file 13.
-Same for owl nav file 13
-8 different owl flightlines have dropped frames incidents with 1 or 2 dropped frames.

Navigation

Started navigation processing. Basestation height was extracted from data by NERC GEF:

HUERTA1: Height reading 0.921m, total vertical height 1.291m

Converted format using: teqc +nav HUERTA_9500_0619_091531.17n HUERTA_9500_0619_091531.m00 > HUERTA_9500_0619_091531.17o

Navigation

Took over the processing to solve epoch issues. Re-started navigation process. Converted data using:
teqc -st 170619071655 -e 170619123622 +nav huerta.17n HUERTA_9500_0619_091531.m00 > huerta.17o

Basestation verification finished
Latitude : 40 49 29.99667
Longitude -2 16 47.08715
Ell. Height: 1193.148 m
Ant. Height: 1.291 m

Navigation Processing

Done. Same problems than for 172 2017, there were errors in the data (Doppler LSQ solution had high RMS), could not compute so had to recalculate Doppler for Static Data using Ephemeris. Satellite elevation mask is 8, separation is less than 0.5 metres (lat, lon and height) with a couple of spikes of 1m but Fenix pixel size is 3m at nadir.

Hyperspectral Processing

Found SCT values:

Flightline FENIX

2 1
3 2
4 1
5 2
6 1
7 2
8 2
9 2
10 1
11 1
12 1
13 2

Starting to map all bands.

Hyperspectral processing

Created delivery - ready for checking.

Thermal processing

For all lines SCT=2. Setting mapping running for all bands.

Thermal processing

Created delivery for Owl data. Most files don't have overflows populated in the readme - not sure if this is genuine or a problem with script. Would be good to confirm in delivery check.

Ready for delivery check.

Hyperspectral Delivery Check

Started.

Thermal delivery check

Everything looks fine from what I can see. All files are present, named correctly, open and contain data.
Tested commands and work OK.

Just need to zip the mapped images.

Fenix Hyperspectral DC

All checks done successfully. Files open OK and spectra looks fine (checked with Py6S for most lines and for those which can't find a vegetation pixel checked using tuiview). Will zip the map files and project will be ready for delivery.

Photogrammetry Processing

Additional processing using Agisoft Photoscan has been carried out to generate a DEM, orthomosaic and point cloud which are found under S17_126-170-camera-20180222. Read_Me describes the data and associated issues to consider, software specific processing parameters are documented in supplied reports in docs/.
